Setting up 2 Twiiter Accounts with Ping.Fm

I’m a big fan of Ping.fm.

Ping .fm allows you to post to multiple social networks. I almost never log in to my twitter account or even my Facebook account. I simply use the ping.fm dashboard and ping or make posts to all of my social nyetworks including Friendfeed, Linedin, Mashable, Delicious, etc.

You can access all of my social networks feeds at http://unhub.com/GregNemer

See this post for a video on how I use UnHub to share twitter to multiple presence points using the website link.

I also use another ping.fm tool that is really handy. It is actually a plugin called, you guessed it, PingFm Wordpress plugin ( You can also use the PingPressFm plugin which does the same thing)  This wordpress plugin allows me to  send my blog post to all of the social networks that I have set up in ping.fm

Problem- I have 2 Twitter Accounts

Ok, So I’m using Ping,fm and I’m really happy with it. But I have 2 twitter accounts. A lot of people will tell you that there is no need to have 2 accounts but I actually have 2 of them.

The reason I have 2 accounts is because I constantly monitor the people that I am most interested in following on my  @purposemission twitter account using twitterfox. Twitterfox is a firefox extension for twitter.

Although I also monitor @gregnemer on twitterfox I have set @gregnemer up to autofollow everyone who follows me and things seem to get crowded. I know I could be using tweetdeck or Seesmic Desktop, but for right now this is the way I prefer to go, at least until I get another monitor set-up to use exclusively for monitoring my social networks using the desktop programs.

Here’s the problem. Ping.fm doesn’t allow you to add more than one twiiter account.

I’m sure this is a temporary problem since  Adam and Sean at Ping.fm are constantly updating the service applications, but for now it is a viable problem.

Problem Solved

Adam and Sean just added access to another service application to Ping.fm that it really neat. It’s called  Shoutem and you can use it to construct your very own micro blogging community. Here’s my ShoutEm.

Shout em has a lot of great features but there is one feature that really caught my attention. You can forward Shout em to Twitter and even to Facebook.

That solved my problem of how to post into both twitter accounts.

Here’s what I did to make posts to all for my social networks including 2 different twitter accounts for my Internet Business With Purpose blog:

  • Set up Ping.fm to post to all of my social networks
  • Ping.fm makes post to Shoutem.com
  • Setup Shoutem to share to my twitter account @gregnemer (under admin connect to)

Now using the Ping.fm dashboard I simply make posts to all of my social networks.

Is there a simpler solution?

Shoutem also allow you to share to ping.fm so I guess we could turn the whole process around and post from shoutem, but I don’t wont to confuse you anymore than I have already.

If you know of a better way to set up ping.fm to make posts to more than one twitter account please let me know in the comments form below.

Or… if you think this is a good solution please let me know too so that I wont think that I’m off my rocker.

Great post. Of course, I need more. A client wants to be able to post to (work twitter & Facebook work BizPage) or (hobby twitter & Facebook hobby BizPage).

A much easier way to do this (I currently use Shout’em as well, so I wasn’t able to hijack that account as my “2nd twitter account”).

First, setup Ping.fm to post to your first Twitter account directly.

Ping.fm lets you post to YouAre.com. Setup an account there to use for posting to your second Twitter account:
1. Setup Ping.fm to post to YouAre.com after creating a YouAre account.
2. Grab the RSS feed from your YouAre account and go to PingVine.com
3. Choose the PingVine Twitter option, and plug in the YouAre RSS feed to post to your second Twitter account.

Now, everytime you update Ping.fm it will post to YouAre.com and your first Twitter, and YouAre.com will post to your second Twitter account via PingVine.
Note: PingVine can take up to 60 seconds to post to Twitter, depending on what settings you chose.

You could theoretically do this with any service Ping.fm posts to as long as it has an external RSS feed that you can plug into PingVine.com or Twitterfeed.com (twitterfeed only posts every 30 minutes though).

Justin,
You’re information is exactly what I was looking for. I knew I wasn’t the only person trying to post to more than one twitter account using P.ing.fm
Thanks so much for the excellent advice.
