Free Pretty Link Cloaking [Video]

by Greg Nemer

Using the Free Pretty Link Cloaking WordPress Plugin is my preferred method of cloaking all of my links. I’m tired of long, ugly links. If you’re in to affiliate marketing this plugin is a must for you also because it’s such a practical, “Pretty” way to cloak links.

Why Use Pretty Links?

This is part 2 of a 3 article series on link cloaking. As I said, in my first article entitled 3 Link Cloaking Methods, the pretty link plugin is my favorite method of link cloaking on this blog,.

But why should you use this resource in the first place?

Obviously  WordPress will allow you to insert a title that is different from your link url in the “insert/edit link” box ox as you’re writing a post ora blog page. The only problem is that if you hover over the link you’ll see the actual destination on the bottom of your browser.

Being able to hide your actual destination URL is just one of the reasons why I use the Pretty Link Wordpress Plugin (I cloaked the Link) and you should too.

I’ve put together a video explaining many more reasons why YOU should be using this free wordpress plugin. For your convenience I’ve also included the script for the video below so that you can not only see see, hear the information but you can also read along as I explain the benefits of pretty link.

Whether you watch the  above video or read the script below or do both, you’re about to discover more about WHY this wordpress plugin will quickly earn its way into your heart as not only one of your most useful plugins but also your favorite method of link cloaking.

PrettyLink Cloaking Is As Easy As 1-2-3combined_1235024_1249402557

I couldn’t begin to explain how much time it has saved me as I easily cloak links on this blog.I’ve included 3 simple steps to get started using Pretty Link. This plugin is very easy to use:

  1. Just enter your destination URL,
  2. Use the randomly generated 2-3 character slug for your URl or enter any name you like for that matter,
  3. Then name the pretty link for easy reference and simply use your newly cloaked link in a variety of ways as described below.

Easy To Organize

Another easy to use feature is the ability to organize your pretty links into groups.

Hint: I’ve set my links up into groups for individual affiliates and programs since I tend to be very forgetful at times.

Each link shows a drop down list for all the groups that you’ve set up. Simply choose which group youwant the link to fall under and save the link. This makes it easy to find the link later on.

You’ll like being Informed

In addition to making ugly links look pretty it also allows you to track hits to your links. If you’re like me you’ll feel good knowing what’s going on with your inks. Now instead of wondering how many people actually click on a link you can actually know because in a matter of seconds you can easily find out the number of hits and unique hits each of your cloaked links have generated.

Pretty Reports

Tracking is great, but pretty links also gives you a reporting interface in the form of a customizable chart allowing you to actually see the realtime clicks per day. You can even filter a report by the specific link clicked, date range, and/or unique clicks.  And with some nice color graph features, the reports are actually “pretty”.

If you don’t care about knowing how many people clicked on your links, simply turn off the tracking feature for one or all of your links.

Broadcast Your Links

I really like this viral social feature and I’m sure you will too! You can easily tweet a Pretty Link to Twitter right from your WordPress admin. In addition to this powerful social feature you can easily get the word out when you send your Pretty Links via email from your blog’s admin panel.

You’ll Love the Pretty Bar

But get this. Pretty link also gives you the ability to use a “Pretty Bar” that looks and feels just like your website. So, even when someone clicks on your link , they don’t totally leave you site.

In all, I counted at least 21 features to the free pretty link plugin. You can check them out and download your free plugin at this prettylink:

Can you see why this is the best option for link cloaking? It includes the benefits of the other 2 link cloaking methods in my previous post but it also provides you with a whole slew of cool new features.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
