I thought I would let you know that the “Ping List Checker” plugin is now finished. It checks for duplicates and if they are found, will then display the number of times they were found.

One of the reasons I made the ping list for blogs is because I also noticed the possibility of double pings.

I have noticed that Pingomatic actually pings a lot of services that are on the ping list from WordPress. Not sure why they would include it, if it pings some of the other services on their ping list. I would think that could be considered as a double ping, or are we only concerned with double pings coming from directly from our blog. Anybody have a view on this?

I have a new WordPress plugin in development that will check the ping list for duplicates and make sure that the ping URL’s are active. If they are no longer active or not responding, it will be logged and then the user can remove them.
