In my upcoming articles I’ll also give you a list of 24 niches within the 3 mega-niches.
Many beginners in niche marketing find it difficult to decide what particular niche to work on. But it should not be that difficult if you look into the niches successful internet marketers are focusing on. There must be a reason why most of them tend to concentrate on those niches.
Most people tend to think that the most critical elements of an internet business are limited to things like website, email list and shopping cart. But that’s not the case at all.
If you choose the niche wrong, it makes everything else difficult…even impossible.
What is a Niche?
So what exactly is a “niche”?
Market niche is defined as “A need many people have that your product fills”. It’s not something you choose from among a selection. It’s something that must be found. Many people say it’s hard for them to “decide” a niche. You don’t “decide” a niche, you “find” it!
How Do You Find a Niche?
Knowing What Drives People To Buy Things Will Help You Find a Niche.
Do you know what drives people to make buying decisions?
Here’s why people by things- It all boils down to the desire to feel better. If you know how that person is experiencing pain or a need and you offer a solution they’ll buy your product or service.
The Pain/ Pleasure Principle
If we get rid of the pain and enhance the pleasure we can influence human behavior and enhance the decision to buy.
In other words, Identify what someone needs and provide a solution for it. Identify a desire and provide satisfaction or gratification.
What Makes a Good Solution Great?
To make a good solution great you need to solve a problem quickly and easily. Usually that is done in the form of providing information either through offering a product or a service.
The 3 Mega Niches
I’m about to reveal to you what is known as the “Big 3″. Most of the money that’s made in information products, advice, consulting and coaching is made within these key “mega-niches”.
If you know what these are, it can give you an edge over everyone else.
You’ve heard the popular saying that people want to be “Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise”. The reason this quote is popular is because it is true. If you break it down into simpler terms the 3 mega- niches are:
1. Health- How to have improved health (Healthy) or how to look better (Sexy)
2. Relationships – family and dating and personal interaction which give us a greater well being (To be Wise or to be happy)
3. Money – People want to have financial freedom , make money and experience business success (Wealthy)
If you look at all the winners in information products, probably 80% to 90% of them are within one of the above categories. If you’re targeting a niche, then here is where you should start.

Greg, excellent post. You do a good job summarizing the pain-pleasure principle and relating it to the three big niches. I’m involved primarily with the money niche, but I guess my hiking blog would also qualify in the health niche. Now if I could just figure out a good way to monetize hiking…
Hi John,
I want to say what an honor it is to me to have like minded persons like you commenting on my blog. You’re part of my “Niche” because you exemplify integrity in marketing. We need more people like you. (I visited your website)
You probably wasn’t asking me how to monetize “Hiking” , but on most of my niche sites I simply start off promoting another product as an affiliate to monetize. I’m sure there are plenty of Clickbank products for this niche. That gives me plenty of time to build a list and put my own product together.
Thanks again John.
Definitely a must read for beginners. Finding a profitable niche is truly important.
Most of the Gurus are recommending to go into huge Niche with Evergreen customers and unlimited money income. On the other hand others are recommending to go into ‘specific’ niche where there is no competition. What do you think?
not everyone is able to separate that strange costume/photo from serious business. remember people don’t know you. being serious is critical. i almost deleted your page but had a 2nd/3rd thought and decided to read some of it.
I understand what you’re saying. The photo is what sets me apart from other business owners. My about page tells how I’m fulfilling my purpose working with Indians while making money online. The wardrobe is a real honor because I’m set apart as a leader in the Tzotzil Indian Community.
Hello Greg. I came across your blog while searching for relevant information on the 3 biggest niches to make money online. I will say the articles on your blog actually added more information to the ones I already have. You’ve done a nice job here. Kudos.
Greg,
Like Prince Ade above, i also came to your blog looking for the 3 biggest niche (I’m actually writing a guest post for problogger).
Thanks for the other links as well as it helped me in my research.

It sucks that I already based my site on another Niche or I might I have tried one of these three. Either way I think by this time I would be more beneficial to keep up what I’m doing on my blog. Nice post by the way, If I hear about anyone else starting a blog soon I will point them here!
James.
Many of these niches also have a lot of competition so it is, often times, better to choose a sub-niche from these more popular niches. If you enjoy the niche, that’s a good pre-requisite.
