I just installed the backtype connect plugin on this website. This plugin allows me to centralize all comments related to my blog post.
BackType Connect shows you all of the conversation surrounding a post or article
Rather than go into a long explanation of what this plug in does, I’m going to refer you over to Maria Reyes McDavis Website where she gives a verty detailed explantion of this plugin.

I had originally downloaded the Disqis plugin, but couldn’t agree more with the comments that both her and Danny Brown (in the comments section of Maria’s post) make about the alternatives.
Danny Brown also suggests the use of another plugin which I noticed that Maria Reyes already had implemented in her website. It’s called the Wordpress Thread Comment. It basically allows you to respond to a comment and when you do so your reply will be posted inline or nested in the comment section of your website.I installed it also.
Actually Maria Reyes has a great post that you’ve just got to see. I’m currently living in Mexico and yesterday there was a big celebration here for 5 de Mayo. Maria Celebrated by providing her 5 Social Marketing list.. This post is chock full of information and is almost more than one can handle in one sitting.

You can do a lot worse than follow Maria’s tips, that’s for sure!
(and glad my little bit about the threaded comments plugin was useful).
I think BackType are doing an amazing job and I can see them really giving IntenseDebate and Disqus a run for their money if they ever wanted to.
