As a new internet business Entrepreneur you may have purchased an internet marketing product to learn how to do business online.
You may have learned about things like niche selection, information product creation, traffic generation, copywriting and other technical stuff you need to make money online. However, to your dismay, you may have found that even if you follow the information closely, you couldn’t seem to make things work.
You realize something is missing…
So what could be missing?
I’ve experienced the same disappointment, that’s why I’ve compiled the following tips to help you as you start a new internet business….
10 Essential Lessons for New Internet Business Entrepreneurs
I’ve listed 5 fundamental lessons which most successful internet entrepreneurs have been applying in their businesses all along. Since there is a lot of information here I’ve broken this article up into 2 parts.
Lesson #1: Focus on both great salesmanship and great content.
You can sell anything with good salesmanship but only once. An enticing sales letter can sell a so-so ebook or a deceptive report. But as soon as the customers find out the poor quality of the content, none of them will ever buy from the marketer again.
This kind of short-term thinking on the part of some marketer leaves them constantly seeking new customers and trying to repair their damaged reputation.
So instead of depending solely on great salesmanship, why not focus both on great salesmanship and great content. Great sales copy attracts customers and great content keeps them buying again and again.
Lesson #2: Always give customers more than what they expect to get.
If you make customers unhappy in the physical world, they might each tell 6 friends. If you make customers unhappy on the Internet, they can each tell 6,000 friends. – Jeff Bezos
Customers are the lifeblood of your business. Without customers – people who buy your product or service- then you really don’t have a business.
If you ask any entrepreneur, they’ll tell you they want more customers.
But I tell you- you don’t want just customers; what you want are more Evangelists.
So what’s an Evangelist? An evangelist is someone who not only buys from you, but who tells everyone how great you are.
Give great products and a great customer service experience, and your customers will repay you hundredfold through repeats, referrals and residuals.
Lesson #3: Aim for partner traffic.
Joint venture projects are a key to success.
You have so many options to get high quality traffic such as pay per click (PPC), search engine optimization (SEO), ezine articles, blog posting, video distribution, press release and many more.
But the most ideal is- partner traffic (traffic from your affiliates and joint venture partners).
If you have a good affiliate program, you don’t have to use any of the other traffic-generating techniques. Your affiliates will do them for you. Furthermore, partner traffic is just another form of word of mouth so it tends to be high converting.
Lesson #4: Develop a relationship with your subscribers.
You most likely have heard it countless times – “The money is in the list.”
Terry Dean says it best,
“The money is not just in the list. It’s in the relationship you have with your list.”
3 step relationship building process to transform your vistors into subscribers who become customers:
The first step in building a responsive list is to realize that not all vistors to your website will become sa subscriber. Your goal is to attract only targeted subscribers who are interested to join your list. People who are actually interested in the information that you provide for them on your blog.
The second step is to develop relationship with your subscribers. Get to know your subscriber and allow them to get to know you by sharing personal stories, honest reviews, and through marketing with integrity.
Finally, Build Trust. As they get to know, like, and confide in you, they’ll start buying more and more from you. They’ll become your loyal customer.
Lesson #5: Develop a Continuity Program.
Forced continuity simply means that if you buy a specific product you are automatically added to a monthly recurring billing. It could be a physical product or it could be digitally delivered such as a membership site.
Coach Terry Dean has been in internet business for 14 years now and he said that when he examines his profits compared to his time investment it always seems like continuity programs end up the winners.
If you don’t have a continuity program, get one set up in your market. Just be transparent and don’t deceive your customers.
