Do others trust you and your internet business?
When I started studying Internet Marketing more that 2 years ago, I surfed the Internet for 6 months searching for the person I could trust the most. It took me that long because I could sense many were just out to scam me.
People are now skeptical. Hence, trust is essential in your online business. If people don’t trust you, they will not buy. It’s as simple as that.
Many months ago, I worked for an internet marketer for his review site. I worked for one month and in that period we had lots of traffic…but no sale! Contrary to what my boss expected, I didn’t expect people trusting that site because it violated all the rules I knew in developing trust for your website.
Here are seven tips that will help you develop trust in your internet business:
1. Be Authentic.
Do you trust a site which doesn’t have the name and a picture of the owner on it? I don’t. I can’t understand why there are still many sites out there without the name and photo of the owners.
Show yourself as a real person. You don’t have to come off as a know it all. No one is, even the most advanced guru in your field.
2. Be Helpful.
The best way to build trust is to be helpful. Give valuable information and answer questions and over time, you will gain people’s trust.
Serve your customers well. In times when you’re being challenged, your army of loyal followers will be your best defenders.
3. Tell Stories.
People love stories. One of the lessons I learned from my internet marketing mentor is the need for story telling in content creation and copywriting. Don’t be afraid to show your emotions. That’s the best way to connect with others
4. Admit Mistakes.
In the course of our business, we are bound to make mistakes. If you admit mistakes readily, you gain people’s trust. There’s no point hiding them because people will sooner or later discover them anyway.
5. Present 3rd Party Case Studies.
Real life stories from other people who are succeeding because of you boost your credibility.
6. Recommend Other Internet Entrepreneurs.
Real professionals are confident of their ability to hold their own. Whenever they see blogs or sites which deserve their recommendation, they don’t hesitate to do so.
7. Stand Up for Your Convictions.
Great marketers are those whom people (at least in their niche) either love or hate. There’s simply no place for fence sitters. Among other things, I give my utmost trust to my internet marketing mentor because he stands for his convictions.
