Are your struggling with link Cloaking Methods?

In this article I’d like to share with you a little bit more about what is link cloaking. I’ll even point out some specific methods for link cloaking along with video instructions so that you can begin cloaking links starting today. This is part 1 of 3 articles on the subject of link cloaking.

What Is Link Cloaking?

I usually like to refer to Wikipedia.com for my definitions but the Wikipedia definition on cloaking was not really applicable to our needs since in this article I am NOT referring to any black hat techniques nor that of changing IP addresses for SEO purposes (although you can use these tools for these purposes)

There ’s a really simple definition for link cloaking:

Link cloaking is simply creating URLs on your website so they redirect to any other URL (Link cloaking also works for emails or tweets)

Link cloaking is simply changing the the way a URL looks. Usually you make it smaller and cleaner looking. You still end up at the same destination but the website address you clicked on hides some of the original information.

Affiliates love link cloaking because it is a simple way of hiding their affiliate ID’s.

3 Methods of Link Cloaking

I want to share 3 great methods for cloaking a link in ascending order. 2 of them are included in this article. I’ll share my 3rd and favorite method in the next article.

3. Using a Tiny URL type service.

Tiny URl was most likely one of the first services to offer a way to shorten a long, ugly link. With a service like this all you have to do is go to their website at www.tinyurl.com and enter the long phrase into the their quick text field box and make your tiny or custom url.

They even have button that you can drag to your toolbar so that you can make tiny urls from your browser. Try it now: Click and drag the following link to your links toolbar.

Tiny URl is fine but I have to say that I prefer Unhub.com because , in addition to creating shorter links it tracks the links and allow you to use a neat profile bar

2. Purchase a domain name, then forward and cloak it

This is one of my preferred methods for link cloaking products that are really important. For example, I purchased http://www.InternetLifestyleSuccess.com for Terry Deans Internet Lifestyle Success System which I heavily promote as an affiliate.

To set up my affiliate link for his product I went to www.RealDomainSuccess.com and purchased a domain name (Only $7.49)

Then I went into the properties for that domain name under forwarding/ cloaking and put in my affiliate ID, keywords and description.

This is a simple way to cloak a domain name and also provides some great possibilities for tracking your clicks. Watch to following video for more instructions:
